WDCC Paris Design Week Exhibition

2100 mq | Baiyun China | 2024

Commissioned by WDCC Shanghai, the exhibition brought together talented designers from China and Paris during Paris Design Week.

Located in Galerie Joseph, a space bathed in natural light, the exhibition design embraced the theme of “half hidden, half visible.” By working with the play of sunlight and shadow, the atmosphere invited visitors to discover the works gradually, experiencing both clarity and mystery.

The gallery’s two levels needed to host a diverse range of designers and disciplines, while also providing a dedicated forum space for design talks. The challenge was to create a coherent narrative across multiple projects, guiding visitors seamlessly between the floors, and integrating the natural light without overwhelming the works on display.

Challenge

The design emphasized sunlight as a curatorial element, allowing shadows and shifting brightness to animate the gallery throughout the day.

Spatial partitions and circulation paths were carefully arranged to frame each project within the shared theme, ensuring both individuality and cohesion.

The upper floor was structured for intimate encounters with the works, while the lower floor opened into a flexible forum space for talks and discussions, reinforcing the exhibition’s role as a platform for cultural dialogue between China and Paris.
